Ashley’s Custom Workout Bag

I first gave you a glimpse of Ashley’s workout bag here, when I was up to my ears in clothes that needed to be cut!

Ashley originally wanted this bag because she saw her husband one day leaving to workout, with his clothes rolled up and tied in a belt!  Haha I imagine he’s not the only man to do this =)

Anyway she gathered a bag of his shirts, from college wrestling, to lifting, and some family brand shirts and asked for a simple workout bag for her and her man.  And this is what came out!

The side panels are both pockets for a water bottle, keys or anything extra and there is also an inside pocket made from a shirt sleeve.

The little circle Logo on the “Mana” side is from Ashley’s husbands favorite hat that their cute little bulldog chewed up.  He was so mad that he couldn’t wear it anymore, but now it has new life =)

The Front Face, Back Face and side pockets are all made from T-Shirts.  The zipper is from a zip up hoodie and the inside lining is made from polyester that I got at my local fabric store.  I wanted to line it with something that wouldn’t hold any odor’s like it would if I lined it with tshirts.

I’m SO happy with how this bag turned out especially since it is the first one of it’s kind and I didn’t have a pattern, so it was all trial, and no error =)

I hope you love it Ashley!

Thanks for stopping by folks!

Custom “V” Tote DONE!

I got an awesome RUSH custom order last weekend so I went into Superman mode to get it done in time =)  Veronica (hence the big ” V” on the front=)  Wanted a Large custom Tote with the letter “V” on it, so that she could take it with her on her trip to Knott’s Berry Farm with her son.

She wanted something with mostly Black and wanted to work with the fabric I already had on hand.  Luckily I had the items that she needed on hand!

The dress which makes up the Front and Back Face is from a dress from the store “The Avenue”.

The white side panel is from a long white skirt I’d purchased at the Thrift Store a couple weeks ago.

The inside lining is from a men’s button up shirt, the side panel is from the sleeves

and the Inside pocket is from another men’s white button up shirt that I’d had left over from another project, as well as the “V” on the front.

The top closes with a magnetic snap.

She’s suppose to pick it up with her matching wallet today  (which I made from the same men’s shirt as the inside lining, and lined with
“The Avenue” Dress) and I’m hoping she LOVES it!

Enjoy the photos!

BACK UP!!!!!

This weekend I had to call in for back up to fill some orders.  I’ve been working my butt off by myself and decided I needed the help of the one and only Mama Jackie =)  So we threw on some oldies and got movin!  We kicked some tote bag butt, learned how to embroider, and figured out how to make an invisible zipper pocket (only took 6 hours to figure out!  Haha)

By the time the sewing started it was already 4pm and we didn’t finish until 10:27pm!  I kinda of worked her like  a slave and tried not to give her all of the hard labor jobs, but I do feel a little guilty that I spent almost an hour watching my machine embroider a bag while she tried desprately to figure out how the heck I wanted my workout bag sewn…

Whoops.  Sorry Mama Jackie =/

But THANK YOU for a VERY successful day!

Imee’s Custom Reversible Tote

This bag is for the awesome Imee!  She gave me those red polka dot pajamas (that didn’t quite fit her) and a gray skirt that had the cutest rouching down the back! and asked me to make her a reversible tote with them.  Here is there before picture.

I went to the thrift store and found a great men’s shirt to use as a side panel to match the gray side, and to use to line the pockets.  And then I used a white mens shirt to make the side panel for the red polka dot side, and also the pockets.

Usually the shirts have two pockets and I’m able to remove them from the shirt and place them appropriately on the bags, but with this shirt it only had one, so I had to go ahead and make some pockets from scratch using the buttons that run down the front of the shirt, and I actually love how they turned out =)

She requested that the bag be extra sturdy so all the pictures that you see were taken without having to stuff the bag at all!  I interfaced it like crazy =)

I still have 2 more custom totes to finish this weekend and just got orders for 2 more…woah.  Looks like I won’t be sleeping for the next couple of weeks!

Taking it Outside

Today KP gave me a tutorial on Web design/html code/Dreamweaver…When I got home it was a bazillion degrees and even hotter in my non-air conditioned house.  So I made an enormous glass of decaf iced coffee, went to the back yard, stole some neighbors internet since mine is down and started to work.

I had to keep telling myself, “my 12 year old niece can do this, so can I!”

I’ve been getting little tidbits here and there on how to build a website for a couple of weeks, but when I say I know nothing, I mean I DON’T KNOW NOTHING!

So after I learned what a server was (please don’t ask me to prove my knowledge =/ … )  I had to learn what “Coding” was.  Look at examples on other websites.  And was even pop quizzed!

I was sent home with an assignment to make a “Products” page.  (Yes, KP gave me homework.) And although I was taught about “Hyperlinks” today I realized when I sat down at my laptop an hour after my webpage session that I’d forgotten 90% of what I’d learned and had to make a quick phone call to ask
“Ummmm…So how do you start working on a new page?”

“File-New.”

“OH!  Got it. =)”

The only thing that ended up on the page were 12 pictures WITH titles =).  But this was after I deleted my page 2 times on accident, 1 time on purpose and a whole column of pictures when I clicked a random button, then my eyes started to burn.  And here I am 8:45pm and ready for bed!  But at least it was cool outside!

Am I the only one who feels like a technological fool?  Or have you ever felt like this too?

Anyway feel free to check out my progress at www.punKyj.com !

Still working in my mess =)

So…I made a bit of a mess of my workspace yesterday but when you work on 3 bags at once you learn to expect this type of thing =)  The good news is that Imee’s bag is almost done =)  Do you recognize any of the fabric from this post?

I just posted this really to let you know that I will finally have some more finished products to show.  It’s been a while since I’ve posted a finished bag but don’t worry they’re coming!  Although they won’t be for sale because the next 4 are custom orders.  BUT they will be pretty to look at =)

Anyway…enjoy the mess =)

Man Shirt Experiment!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I’ve been wanting to experiment with making a men’s shirt into a dress for a long time now and today I finally got around to it!  So I took my experimental Men’s Button up shirt, and started cutting away.  And as smart as I am I cut the pattern pieces without measuring them, and apparently my fantasy pattern didn’t fit over one leg in my real body.  Whoops.  That’s where the side panels come in, I needed the stretch of a t-shirt.  So after another round of estimated cutting I applied the side panels and finished it up.

While it does fit me better now, let’s just say it looked a little less skanky on my tween niece =)  I still have to finish some of the edges and the back of it because it’s not suppose to tie, but she was leaving soon and I wanted to get some pictures of it before I lost my window of opportunity.  So here it is on my beautiful niece, while she had a bit of fun modeling for me.   (And my other baby niece who wanted to get all up in the mix =)
